Dear Friends, The 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion Reunion Association invites the veterans, their families, and friends of the 818th to join us in Lincoln, Nebraska for the 2007 - 50th Reunion. We're excited to host this special event. We have arranged some tours and hope to show you the sights that Nebraska has to offer. Some of the activities planned are:

Thursday, July 26: Memorial services at Veterans Memorial Gardens in Antelope Park. Tour Museum of Nebraska History or Memorial Stadium, the home of the University of the Nebraska Cornhuskers (this might be on Friday instead). Tour of Pioneer Seed and Ethanol plant near York and supper at Chances "R".

Friday, July 27: See some of the sights around Lincoln, including the State Capital, one of the tallest state capitals around. Friday afternoon is free time, as your hosts will be preparing for the banquet. Please note the banquet will be on Friday night this year instead of Saturday evening. There will also be a dance following the banquet. The banquet program will feature speaker, Shane Osborne, a Navy pilot who landed his crippled plane on the Chinese island of Hainan, saving the lives of his 23 crewmates.

Saturday, July 28: Women's Gift Exchange, followed by Group Meeting and Photo Sessions. When the meeting has concluded, we will be loading a bus to do some more sightseeing. We will be going to Mahoney State Park, Sac Museum, drive-through Safari and other sights along the way. The Evening meal will be at the Lodge in Mahoney State Park. Then we head back to the motel to do some visiting in the hospitality room before everyone heads back home on Sunday morning.

We have attempted to plan a reunion that has something of interest for everyone. We hope that you will attend at least part of the reunion's activities. Please bring any photos or other 818th memorabilia you have so that we all may enjoy them in the hospitality room. There will be people wishing to interview any veterans in the hospitality room on Friday afternoon, for those veterans and families that would like to participate.

Please arrive on Wednesday evening, July, 25 for registration in the hospitality room if you wish to enjoy all the reunion's activities. The hospitality room will be open from Noon until 10:30p.m. that day for early registration.

We would appreciate it if you could complete the worksheet and return it to us, along with the appropriate fees, by June 30, so we can provide a somewhat accurate head count to the various vendors.

We have selected the Country Inn & Suites, 5353 N. 27th St., Lincoln, NE, Phone: (402) 476-5353, as our hotel. The hotel is located off Interstate 80. Take exit #403 and go South on 27th Street approx. 1-1/2 miles to the hotel.

We have negotiated a price of $89.00 per room (2 queen beds or 1 king bed) for 2 people, and $85.00 per room (1 queen bed or 1 king bed) for 1 person. Kids ages 18 and under stay free. Suites are $119.00 for up to 6 people (2 queen beds & sleeper sofa). These prices include an extended breakfast at the hotel. You need to make your own motel room reservations by calling (402) 476-5353 and referring to the 818th Tank Destroyer Reunion. This block of rooms will be held only until June 23rd. After this block of rooms reserved are gone, there is no guarantee that there will be a room available ot that you will get the discounted rate, so it is wise to plan ahead.
